#57: My Sassy Bloom Baby Toy Box Review

#57: My Sassy Bloom Baby Toy Box Review
2 minutes to read

Poor, deprived little Moo. She basically lives off hand-me-downs and scraps. Well, not really – but she doesn’t get a great deal of stuff brought for her “afresh”. The perils of having an older sister who was born at the same birth weight with a teetering pile of toys already in situ.

So, when I saw these boxes of toys and goodies by Sassy Bloom, I thought they looked quite snazzy. Designed as a gift subscription box for 0-3 years, they’re lovely presents for preggos and new mummies, filled with a range of goodies to a value of £40. You add in the date of birth or date date of the bambino, their name and gender (if known), and then a couple of weeks later, a big old box arrives ready to be squealed at. They use the age you provide to target the contents based on baby’s stage of development, which is handy, so everything inside should be pretty useful and relevant.

The box contents vary each month, and while some things I’d already seen in shops, other bits were welcome surprises. We got:

  • Sock-ons
  • A teething necklace (LOVE this)
  • A sippy cup
  • A stackable bath toy
  • A door stop designed to sit on the top of the doorframe to keep little fingies from being squished
  • A cute sensory dragon toy

The range was great, but as a book lover I’d probably have preferred a little picture book over one of the toys. Also, I’m a bit militant about gender stereotyping (Let Toys Be ToysLet Clothes Be Clothes and so on), so it would be nice to be given the option for a gender-randomised box. As in, if I had a little boy, I wouldn’t care if he received the pink dragon because it’s a decent toy, and I wouldn’t want this omitted from the box because I’d stated it was for a boy, if you catch my rambly drift).

Moo’s favourite part? The bloody tissue paper, natch.

Moo waving at Sassy box

Moo ripping tissue paper from Sassy Bloom box

Moo eating tissue paper from Sassy box

Are you tempted to treat a new mummy or mum to be? Have a look at the subscription options over at Sassy Bloom.

Ooh I’ve wanted to get Emma one of these for ages! It looks fab, I love Munchkin toys and Moo looks very pleased with the tissue paper hehe. I have to agree with you though about adding a book in…fab review! Xx

Ahh, we are the same. Youngest, hardly has anything that isn’t a hand-me down. The box looks fab with a great range of different gifts. Would make a really thougful present for new mummies. However, I agree and think they have missed a trick by not including a book. Still a lovely box! Will investigate for my new mummy friends.

Hey everyone thrilled you loved the great review and our boxes ???? just to say that we do feature books as well (just not in Everett box as it would be a bit too much)

Hope you have a great day and thank you for reading

Absolutely appalling system. I opted for the £10 off the first box to see what it was like. My little girl was 15 months old and received 2 shape sorters and 2 books, 1 of these books was for 3+ and she doesn’t know what to do with it and ripped the pages. I made a complaint as I didn’t want to receive another box as I didn’t believe them when they say they tailor make the box for the age. I gave them the option to refund me the box before sending it or that I would put my reviews online and they have opted for me to review them. I have today received the 2nd box which has a toy BBQ set for ages 3+, my little girl is now 16 months. This is a dangerous company to be dealing with as they are sending toys they say are suitable for the age of the child, and they are clearly not. It is a good job I have checked the ages as if I trusted the company at their word, my little girl could be playing with potentially dangerous toys. Stay clear.

Thank you for the comment, I’m sorry you didn’t have a better experience with the boxes. It does sound frustrating. The box I tried had a good selection but I can see where you’re coming from.
